Terms of Use
Last updated: 31 July 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the 1/2 Pint mobile application (the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Who we are
1/2 Pint is a consumer app that lets people find, add, and rate public houses (“pubs”) based on community submissions. References to “we”, “us”, or “our” mean the developer of 1/2 Pint.
2. The service
The App allows you to:
- search for pubs added by the community;
- add pub profiles (name, street address, and postcode);
- submit and update category ratings;
- view nearby pubs on a map when you allow location access;
- see community aggregates of ratings.
Ratings and pub details are user-generated. They are opinions and information submitted by users, not verified facts, and are not affiliated with any pub, brewery, or trade body unless we expressly say otherwise.
3. Eligibility
You must be old enough to use the App under the laws of your country and under the App Store rules that apply to you. If you are under 18, you should only use the App with a parent or guardian’s permission where required.
4. Accounts
The App uses an anonymous account created on your device so your ratings can sync across the service. You do not need to create a username or password. If you reset or remove the App without linking a stronger sign-in method in future, you may lose the ability to edit past votes tied to that anonymous identity.
5. Your content
You are responsible for pubs and ratings you submit (“Your Content”). You agree that Your Content will be:
- accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- not misleading, defamatory, abusive, or unlawful;
- not spam, advertising spam, or attempts to manipulate ratings unfairly;
- not infringing anyone else’s rights.
By submitting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute it in connection with operating and improving the App (including showing community averages to other users).
We may remove or restrict content that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or the law, without prior notice where appropriate.
6. Duplicate pubs
To reduce duplicates, the App blocks adding a pub with the same name and postcode as an existing entry. Please check carefully before adding a new pub.
7. Ratings
You may submit ratings for categories shown in the App. Generally, you may have one current vote per category per pub; submitting again updates your previous vote for that category. Community scores are aggregates and may change as other users contribute.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- attempt to disrupt, scrape at scale, or reverse engineer the App except as permitted by law;
- use the App to harass others or publish illegal content;
- impersonate others or misrepresent pub details deliberately;
- interfere with advertising or security features.
9. Location
If you allow location access, the App may use it to show pubs near you. You can refuse or revoke permission in your device settings; map features that need your location may then be limited.
10. Advertising
The App may show third-party advertisements (including banner ads via Google AdMob). Ad partners may use technologies described in our Privacy Policy.
11. No warranties
The App is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that pub details, ratings, or map placements are complete, accurate, or up to date, or that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the App or reliance on user-generated content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
13. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. We may suspend or stop providing the App, or restrict access if you breach these Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
